Should You Be Using Courses in Your Biz w/ Lindsey Rains

To create a course or not to create a course? That is the question!

When you are a thriving online business owner, others will undoubtedly want to know the secrets to your success. Naturally, you want to help others, but perhaps you are struggling with the “who?”, the “what?” and the “how?” to share your wealth of knowledge with your online audience. Sound familiar? If so, then you’re in the right place.

Join LaToya and her guest, Lindsey Rains for this Elevate Your Business podcast show episode. Lindsey began her online journey with a horse blog for a non-profit organization, allowing her to creatively promote and market their sponsorship services. Of course, trial, error, and time led Lindsey to explore social media platforms to gain traction and grow her online audience. Because of her displayed expertise, other bloggers began to solicit her assistance with their businesses in the horse industry. She built trust with her online peers, and these peers transitioned into clients. This speedily warranted a need to employ a team, as her business was soaring to new heights.

With her experience, Lindsey soon realized that creating courses would be the most effective way to teach others ‘How To?’ Her audience essentially dictates the types of courses that she creates. Courses that drive results are what her audience responds to. She uses her journey to create courses that will help others take their business to the next level, and because of the trust she has built with her online audience, her courses have proven successful. Lindsey’s course creation has thus evolved into teaching others how to create online courses of their own. “Course sales can easily become passive and additional income while you focus on other endeavors for your business,” says Lindsey.

You’ll notice that in this episode Lindsey shares her story of success, with the hope that you gain the knowledge and courage to take those same simple steps to Elevate Your Business.

The Elevate Your Biz Podcast Show
The Ebbs and Flows of Business w/Romaine Brown Palmer

A recurrent or rhythmical pattern of coming and going or decline and regrowth. Think about it! Does this statement sound familiar and true for your small business? If so, no worries! As an online service provider, it is normal to experience changeability in ideas, marketing, clients, courses, processes, etc. The truth is that ebbs and flows of being a small business owner exists for most entrepreneurs.

If you have not yet had your morning cup of caffeine, it’s okay! We’ve got just the stimulant for you. Join LaToya and her guest Romaine Brown Parker for a double shot of energy on this month’s episode of the Elevate Your Business podcast show. This is not Romaine’s debut as a guest on our show, but today she’s here to share with us her colorful journey to and through entrepreneurship. In the online space, Romaine is a virtual assistant, turned online business coach, turned small business owner. She has been a master at all her trades. But as you listen to her story, you’ll learn that Romaine was not born the project management powerhouse that she is today. Life and world events along with personal and professional growth have steered her career to where it is today. She has used each opportunity afforded her to become a subject matter expert in all that she does. Romaine has worked tirelessly, and her success and virtual reputation precede her. Interestingly, she is not afraid to step back and take personal time, as she knows that it is necessary to keep growing personally and professionally. She says that self-care and self-evaluation are key to reaching that next level.

All your online business owners and entrepreneurs, learn this valuable lesson from one of the best. If you’re feeling unsure about where your business is going or thinking that it’s time to regroup and make some significant professional changes, relax! It’s normal! Change may be just what you need to Elevate Your Business.

The Elevate Your Biz Podcast Show
How to Scale Your Business and Stop the Overwhelm as an Entrepreneur

When you type the word ‘overwhelmed entrepreneur’ into Google you get over 30,000,000 results coming up. Can you believe that number? That’s huge.

It just shows you how many people are facing complete business burnout and looking for help. They’re sick of feeling like an employee in their own business and would love someone to show them how to manage their business, put some structure around things, and get their life back.

This is good news for you because it means you’re not on your own. You’re not the only overwhelmed entrepreneur out there. There are plenty who feel the same as you, like the entrepreneurial world is getting on top of them, and they can’t see the wood through the trees. It’s a common feeling as you try to grow and scale your business.

It’s very easy to get drawn into that mentality of ‘always working’ and being switched on all the time and that in itself is draining and you never allow yourself to press the off button.

How do you recognize the signs of an Overwhelmed Entrepreneur?

There are several telltale signs that scream overwhelm and the first is that feeling of always being buried under a mountain of work that never seems to get any less. Every time you look at the pile, virtual or otherwise, it seems to get bigger rather than smaller.

Then there’s those intense feelings that take over your mind making you feel swamped, defeated, exhausted and overloaded. It all starts to feel completely pointless and you start to lose your passion and drive. And you start to question the reason behind why you became an entrepreneur in the first place.

Finally, there’s the enemy of time and how little of it you seem to have. There’s never enough hours in a day and you feel trapped trading time for money.

Well fear not, as my Google search proved you’re not on your own and there are many things you can do to put a stop to this feeling of entrepreneurial overwhelm.

How can you scale your business and stop the overwhelm as an entrepreneur?

Good question. There’s so much advice out there it can be hard to know what to do first so let me simplify it for you with five simple tips that will not only get you started but really help you to battle the burnout.

Tip No 1 for Overwhelmed Entrepreneurs - Ask for Help from the Right People

I know, mind blowing isn’t it? But hear me out here. So many entrepreneurs I speak to as a virtual Chief of Staff and Online Business Manager, say the thing they struggle with the most is asking for and accepting help.

For some they feel it’s like admitting defeat or that it just proves they’re not good enough to do it themselves. Others are just ashamed to ask for help as they believe it makes them look weak.

Well I’m here to tell you that simply isn’t the case. In fact, asking for help is the smart option. I mean think about it for a second, how often when you’re stuck do you turn to Google or YouTube for help? How is asking a person any different from asking those two platforms? At least if you’re asking a professional you’re getting the right type of help instead of taking the risk that the person you’re listening to might not be an expert at all. Or worse still have bad advice that could have an adverse affect on your business.

Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness, it's a sign of understanding your own limitations and allowing your business to get the best possible advice...

The Benefits of Using LinkedIn for Your Biz w/ Alia Khatib

True or False: All social media platforms are created equal?

Answer: False

If you were unsure of the answer or answered, “true”, then here’s the episode for you. Joining LaToya all the way from Barcelona, Spain is Alia Khatib. They are going to discuss the difference between LinkedIn and other social media platforms and how to benefit most from this unique online space.

Alia is a LinkedIn marketing coach and consultant. Like other guests that LaToya has hosted on her podcast show, this was not originally the career path that Alia began. However, opportunity presented itself and Alia was able to use her previous marketing experience along with additional training to become an expert in the LinkedIn arena. She first explains that LinkedIn is more than a personal place, it is a business network designed to attracting business related connections with other professionals.

As a business owner, your goal is to grow your business. LinkedIn creates an atmosphere where entrepreneurs can generate quality leads and make quality connections, not friends. This is a business networking platform where professionals from all industries seek business opportunities. Consider an accepted connection request on LinkedIn as opening the door to, at the very least, a business conversation. Your ideal business audience is more transparent and quality business opportunities are more plentiful on LinkedIn.

This is not a platform where the quantity of your connections and content matter, rather it’s the quality of your connections and content that make the difference. Understanding and getting the best use from the search engines and clearly knowing your target audience is key. Use your LinkedIn profile as your store front that answers all the questions that a lead may have. And reach out to leads, don’t just wait for leads to reach out to you.

Tune if for all this and much more valuable advice that Alia shares with us in this episode of The EYB Podcast show.

Why My First Coaching Experience Was Ruined

In the spirit of keeping aligned with your purpose, LaToya continues on her solo journey to true self-examination and self-discovery.

She’s sharing how misalignment can lead to taxing and costly lessons for entrepreneurs. This episode will prove to be an eye-opener for business owners feeling unsure of where they want to go in their business.

LaToya is open and honest about the challenges that she has faced as an entrepreneur and wants to encourage others not to feel defeated when success is not instant or consistent. She stresses the need to be true to yourself and to be authentic in the products and/or services that you want to create and bring to market.

She hones in on the reality that when you are not crystal clear about the things you want for your business and your life, no amount of coaching or mentoring can help you. A coach’s task is to instruct, advise and even inspire, not to play the game for you. So the real work is left to you. Otherwise, you can and will find yourself all over the place with incomplete ideas. LaToya wants to see you dig deep and figure out what it is that you truly desire for yourself and for your business.

Want to feel like you’re talking to an old wise friend??? Tune in to this podcast episode with your girl LaToya. She’s got some knowledge to share!

The Myth: Starting a Business = More Freedom

Let’s talk facts!

While it may be true that owning your own business gives you a measure of flexibility, LaToya will dismiss the myth that business owners have more freedom. First things first! In this episode, LaToya will define and help you to establish which category or stage of business ownership you are. She will discuss what each category entails because she knows that having a clear understanding will enlighten you to the true responsibilities of a business owner. Are you a freelancer, doing your own thing for clients per their need? Self-employed, contracting out your services? Or an entrepreneur, organizing and operating the day to day of the business and brand that you have built? You will learn that with each, brings added accountability to your business which oftentimes correlates to less freedom for you. LaToya will also highlight the different role acronyms that we see in our online business space each day which should urge you to be honest about how much you truly do for your business in addition to servicing your clients.

This podcast will give you a realistic understanding of what starting your own business means and what it will take to reach a point of having true freedom, which, as business owners, is our goal.

The Elevate Your Biz Podcast Show
My Entrepreneurial Journey from Cashier to CEO

In her debut podcast episode, LaToya keeps it real! She discusses her entrepreneurial journey and how early on she displayed the traits of a boss. She has never been a stranger to hard work but will only be respectful when respected. Although it took several roles and numerous personality clashes, LaToya learned much about others but even more about herself.

As a natural-born leader, she did not want others dictating her career path and discovered that when you are born to be something, it just happens. So, as scary as it seemed, when it was time, it was ‘simply’ time to launch her very own business. It was more than a notion to transition from employee to boss and her success was not instant. LaToya was soon off to a slow start and quickly found herself unmotivated and uninspired. What happened to that fire she always had? She had wandered off into a deep cave of dejection and could not find her way out. It took the sincere concern of her loving mother to encourage her to snap out of it. And that she did!

With renewed energy, LaToya turned things around for herself. Her positive energy created advantageous opportunities. But was this enough? Was generating full-time income as a virtual assistant what LaToya wanted? No! So, in 2018, LaToya made it a goal to get back on track to her nurturing her business and growing her brand. She knew that this meant taking risks. To elevate her business LaToya needed to invest in her business. Investing in her business meant investing in herself. She employed the necessary support to help scale her business to a new level. 2019 was a great year and 2020 was promising great things. Exciting Times! And then, CORONAVIRUS! The global pandemic has changed all our lives and LaToya was not immune to its effects. During the past year, her business has suffered, as have many. This helped to change LaToya’s focus. During this downtime, LaToya took the opportunity to build the back end of her business.

LaToya is sharing her journey with us because it has always been an aspiration for her to attract and inspire her audience. She hopes that you find some treasures in her message and that you follow your dreams.
