#22 The DubaiLife Discuss The Giving Movement and New Age Business With Dominic Nowell Barnes

Dominic has a truly fascinating story and shares all in this episode of The DubaiLife Podcast!

Dominic was an entrepreneur from the get-go, as a kid, he would post flyers to get jobs cleaning neighbors' cars in his home city of Leeds, UK. It was clear that school wasn't his bag and after completing a finance qualification at college Dominic found his self-selling flooring via eBay. With a strong desire to learn and move the business forward Dominic had incredible success with this business and in a short space of time opened up call centers and even physical retail stores.

To escape the mayhem of the call center business environment Dominic would often take himself off to Dubai alone. It was during one of these trips that he just realized that Dubai had to be his future.

He decided to sell the business and make the move and in the space of just a few weeks here he was.

Dominic talks about many business opportunities that presented themselves to him during his early days in Dubai, one of them being baby milk power. In the end, Dominic realized that the drive behind his next venture had to be more than money, he realized that in order to succeed he needed to A) really enjoy what he was doing and B) impact the lives of others in a positive way! Wallah The Giving Movement was born. A year in of planning later and the company launch during COVID-19.

The Giving Movement company uses only 100% recycled materials (mainly plastic bottles and bamboo) to disrupt the broken ways of the fashion industry! They create deeply meaningful apparel that is sustainable, made ethically in the UAE and has a positive impact through donating $4 from every item purchased to charity. $4 is enough to provide food, daily shelter, and education for a full week for one child in need. Meaning each time you purchase an item, you can change one person’s life for the better.
