Eavesdrop on these married entrepreneurs, Emily and Ili Ciardiello as they use this podcast to finally have a meeting discussing goals, strategies, kids, life, and everything in between! They will even answer questions from Emily’s followers on her IG @thedressinggownceo and have an expert guest drop in! So why the dressing gown? Because it represents realism and the unpolished CEO. As entrepreneurs, Emily and Ili have started and sold 2 other businesses and now own Foil Me, a multimillion dollar company in the hair industry that transformed the way hairdressers used and thought about foil.

Episode 4: Hiring, Firing and Everything In Between

Welcome to episode 4 of The Dressing Gown CEO podcast, co-hosted by myself, Emily (CEO of Foil Me), and hubby and co-founder, Ili Ciardiello (The Other CEO of Foil Me). In this podcast episode, we chat about everything from employee management and culture at Foil Me to the joys (and challenges) of working with our kids. We keep it real—whether that means recording in the kitchen with cupboards open or leaving breakfast dishes on the counter. It's raw, it's relatable, and it's us. One of the main things we dive into is how we manage hiring and firing in a small business (and everything in between), sharing stories of where we have made mistakes and what we have learnt from them. We also discuss pay reviews and provide our opinion on when they should be awarded. Then we get deep about what happens when things aren't going well with an employee and what the steps are based on lessons we've learned (the hard way). But it’s not all about business with adults! We’re also parents, and that comes with its own set of challenges, especially when the kids get involved in the business. We joke about firing our kids, locking them up and what to do when they actually do work for you. So if you want an entrepreneurial podcast that is fun, filled with lighthearted moments, informative and inspiring (because we show that it’s possible to blend business with family life, even if it gets messy), then this is the podcast for you! It's real, raw, and full of the ups and downs of running a business and raising a family. We may not have perfect lighting or a polished aesthetic, but we’re here to share what we’ve learned—failures and all—and have a few laughs along the way. The Dressing Gown CEO is all about being true to who we are, and we hope you'll enjoy the ride!
