They call me The Doctor of Digital—but I wasn’t born with a mic in one hand and a manuscript in the other. I came from working-class roots: a family of farmers, factory workers, and truck drivers. Education wasn’t a given—it was a gamble. My parents were the first in their families to graduate from high school, let alone college. Me? Teachers said I wasn’t “college material.”
But books saved me.

They became more than stories—they became survival. They taught me to think, to question, and eventually, to write. That love of learning carried me through three advanced degrees, 85 academic papers, and a life in higher education: professor, campus dean, VP, executive director.
But none of that erased the boy inside me who wanted to tell stories.

So I did. I wrote a novel. Then a screenplay. Then a non-fiction book—and now, three more are in the works: one on American history, one on music, and one on the tension between work and life. I also host three podcasts, speak at national conferences, and coach authors like you—visionaries with a story that matters.

And here's what I know:
Most books don’t fail because the writer isn’t smart enough.
They fail because the structure collapses before the message lands.
Because the heart of the story gets buried in doubt, perfectionism, or the fog of too much information.
That’s where I come in.

As a book coach, I specialize in literary CPR. I help thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and aspiring writers resuscitate their voice, shape their message, and write books that build authority, not gather dust.

I've lived the academic grind. I’ve wrestled with impostor syndrome. I’ve stared down the blank page and asked, Who am I to write this?
