
Bruce Sokler is a prominent antitrust attorney. He joins the pod to discuss the DOJ’s case against RealPage, the company that sells algorithmic pricing recommendation software to landlords. According to the DOJ, the software is used by landlords as an indirect way to illegally collude to set rents artificially high. This single software, used by most large landlords, may be a major reason why – in the words of Jimmy McMillan – “the rent is too damn high!”.
