The Department in Conversation, Episode 14 with Pam Roach

This is a series of recorded conversations to continue to build community and cohesion within the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary. Sharing knowledge about different components of the Department, the faculty and students within and the broader academic life.

This episode features Dr. Fiona Clement, Head of Community Health Sciences, and Dr. Pam Roach, a Metis Scholar and Director of Indigenous Health Education within the Indigenous, Local and Global Health Office. They discuss the upcoming Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) Indigenous Canada offered by the University of Alberta. This conversation will touch serve to remind faculty that racism towards Indigenous People is an everyday occurrence, contribute to understanding why building one’s own knowledge is foundational, and to reflect on why a community is useful to work through the MOOC.
