Welcome to the first episode of the Curiosity Mindset podcast.
Introduction and context
We're kicking things off with a 5-part limited series on the future of leadership development.
In February 2024, the inaugural Leadership Development Summit was held in Tasmania, Australia.
As a direct outcome, a white paper was produced identifying 5 major challenges:
1) Research-practice gap
2) Divergent worldviews
3) Challenges of leadership measurement
4) Complexity and systems thinking
5) Future of leadership development
In this limited series, I will be interviewing 5 people who contributed to the paper to reflect on what's changed since the 2024 summit, what new challenges are being experienced by leaders, and what they believe we need to be talking about at the next summit in December 2025, in Canberra.
About our guest
In the first episode, I speak with Dr Werner Vogels. He's a neuropsychologist, an academic, a leadership development practitioner, and mentor, with a particular focus right now in building resilient rural communities as part of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation.
He's passionate about exploring ways to grow, learn and connect, individually, in community and teams, making sense of why we connect the way we do, with whom and how, how we frame our worldview, and then apply that knowledge to what we design, desire and re-construct.
In this episode
In our conversation, we focus a great deal on the challenges of recognising our own worldviews, working with people who possess divergent worldviews, and how this links back into the organisations and communities we live in every day.
