On today’s episode, Dan and Donny discuss a variety of topics, including a preview of the four quarterfinal games this weekend!

But first, they take a look at the All-American lists that were released this week and discuss the selections and snubs from this list. Most notably, there were relatively few players who made both the preseason list and the final All-American list, which shows both the difficulty of picking these lists and the unpredictable nature of this season. 

Next, they discuss their biggest surprises from the first round of the NCAA tournament, which include the offensive explosion by Notre Dame, the dominance by Georgetown, Syracuse’s miracle comeback victory and the play of the UAlbany defence to try and disrupt Ryan Goldstein and the rest of the Cornell offence. 

Then they get into the upcoming games this weekend, first at Hempstead and then in Annapolis. 

They begin with Cornell vs Richmond in a game that pits the nation’s best offence against one of its elite defences. Richmond played Cornell very well in the first matchup and will look to replicate that success. Hunter Smith and Mitchell Dunham will be massive in this game, tasked with guarding two of the best attackmen in America. 

For Princeton and Syracuse, it likely comes down to faceoffs, where both teams dominated in round one. Princeton has had issues at the X all season long, and will hope that Andrew McMeekin can continue his strong play against Towson. With two of the nation’s best offences, this game has explosive potential. 

Notre Dame and Penn State features the nation’s two biggest collegiate brands as the Irish look for their 10th straight NCAA tournament victory. While Penn State hsa the edge statistically, Notre Dame has the experience and was in incredible form last weekend. 

And finally, the game with the most sicko potential is Georgetown vs Maryland, which will be a battle of ball control and possession between some of the best coaches in the business, who happen to know each other extremely well.
