Sleep disorders are way too common nowadays. Our lifestyles complicate this issue and we are left baffled as to how to fix it. Long work hours, traveling across countries or the globe, lack of exposure to the sun, nighttime work shifts, poor eating schedules, and improper lighting are just the tip of the iceberg on what disturbs our sleep. In the US alone there is an estimated 70 million people suffering with at least one sleep disorder and that seems to be a conservative number because it is believed up to 80% of sleep disorders are going undecided or undiagnosed. Comorbidities not only complicates the treatment of sleep disorders but it also requires specialty doctors to work together, not a strong suit for our current medical model.
