EP1: Suicide Awareness & Prevention

In this episode of the CJSW podcast, we discuss (trigger warning) suicide awareness & prevention with our intern, Delaney Pickard. September is National Suicide Awareness month and Delaney is helping us spread awareness of this stigmatized topic.

In this episode we discuss:

  • How to be aware of the signs when a friend/acquaintance might be having suicidal thoughts
  • How suicide is not isolated to a specific type of person
  • The definition of suicidal ideation and passive ideation
  • The reasons/feelings someone may be having that can lead to suicidal ideations
  • How you can respond to someone who confides in you about their suicidal ideations
  • How you can help destigmatize the topic of suicide
