Bec and Gary Cole are not like your stereotypical "Father-Daughter" combo. Not only have they represented Australia in their respective sports, Bec with Basketball, and Gary with the Socceroos in Football, but together they have overcome situations which would undoubtedly shake individuals and families to their core.

Throughout her basketball career, Bec has won championships, International tournaments and has been selected in All-Star Teams, and Gary has been involved in elite soccer since the moment his family emigrated to Australia in his teens. Along with being a member of the Socceroos, he played a key part in Melbourne Victory's success throughout the 2000's as a key part of their administration coaching ranks. But Bec and Gary's special bond hasn't been built enjoying each others sporting success. Throughout her career, Bec endured multiple ACL injuries (not to mention the plethora of niggles and setbacks that come along with that), has been cut from national teams and has had to deal with more social media trolls than most, and will be the first to say that having to navigate these experiences has built her into one of the most resilient and hardest working athletes our country has to offer. Gary however, has perhaps overcome one of the biggest challenges one will ever face in life - Cancer.

Raw and emotional, this conversation is an amazing insight into how incredibly special Bec and Gary's bond is, and how being able to lean on those close to us can help us navigate anything life throws at us.
