Sturla Ellingvåg is the historian behind @VikingStories . He is is currently collaborating in DNA-projects with the Max Planck Institute in Germany, and is convinced that history has to be studied in a broader context than current fashion allows. He traces the roots of the Viking Age back to the Bronze Age and beyond, and also sees the earliest Viking raids as a pre-emptive defense against the onslaught of the "sword Christendom" of the Emperor Charlemagne. Ellingvåg takes us through Norse mythology, its connection to Greek mythology and society and how it may reflect reality in unexpected ways.
