The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup gets underway in the United States on Saturday, 14th of June. Played under a new format, the month-long tournament will now take place once every four years rather than annually.
The competition was previously contested by only seven teams but will now feature 32. Once described as a "mistake" by former Fifa president Sepp Blatter, the revamp has been as significant as it is controversial.
Dotun Adebayo and Tim Vickery are joined by
Miguel Lourenço Pereira, author of Pasión: A Journey to the Soul of Spanish Football (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pasi%C3%B3n-Journey-Soul-Spanish-Football/dp/1801509573)
and Joshua Nkan - US based Soccer journalist (https://x.com/joshua_reports)
Joshua speaks on the US & Mexican teams in the competition and how the US is building towards the tournament
