77 - Refugee camps in Palestine, Syria, Lebanon & Greece: what life is really like
Welcome to The Bottomless Pit Podcast and to the second half of James' conversation with Eric Maddox, the founder and director of OpenRoadsMedia.org and The Virtual Dinner Guest project.
Finishing off the conversation James had with Eric (see Ep76 for the first half), this episode concentrates on the times he has spent visiting and living in refugee camps from Palestine to Syria and Greece, and he talks about what refugee camps actually look like, what a refugee is, what life is like as a refugee, and some of the unique struggles that many people face when the country they flee to, in order to escape horrific conditions in their home state, will not recognise them as refugees.
This makes for another eye-opening conversation, and if you want to hear more from Eric and from some of the people who have gone through some of the things he talks about with me, then do go and check out his own podcast, Latitude Adjustment, where he has long-form conversations with people from all over the world, who have been through their own unique set of struggles, including someone from the Middle East, West Africa, and Eastern Europe.
