WONDER Part 6 - Comfort Zone
In this episode we read in Via’s ex-best friend’s shoes and why she suddenly started rejecting Via. So far we’ve seen her as a backstabber who’s just left Via behind, but why? We then go back into Auggie’s shoes and follow him on his school residential trip, which he is terrified about? We watch Auggie take a step out of his comfort zone and another step to becoming, as he describes, “ordinary”. To keep up to date with everything that’s going on follow our Instagram @thebook.corner_. Next episode we’ll be reading from page 268 ‘Voices In The Dark’ to page 284 ‘Ducks’! BACKGROUND INFO on WONDER: Wonder is the critically-acclaimed novel by RJ Palacio published in February 2012 which was inspired by the author’s daughter who cried after seeing a boy with facial deformities. It’s been quoted by many people to be “a book that every person especially child should read”. The book follows Auggie, a 10-year-old who is about to start middle school who has facial deformities. His journey is of self-confidence, trust, loyalty and also finding himself. The book starts with him going on about how he isn’t ordinary and everyone else is. It ends though with him talking about how no one is ordinary and how we’re all different. Everyone can relate to this book in some way, following loads of different characters stories, each with different experiences. It’s also an easy read for people who find reading not the most exciting of things, with short chapters and with characters giving different points of view throughout the novel, this is the perfect novel to start you reading if you don’t enjoy it very much! We hope you enjoy reading Wonder with us through these hard times and enjoy listening to our episodes! Stay safe, stay at home, keep reading and keep listening!
