On today's episode, we talk all about herx/die-off reactions.
This is something that typically happens any time you have gut issues and you go through some sort of antimicrobial protocol.
When you take things like antibiotics, herbal antimicrobials, and even probiotics... you will be killing off many unwanted bacteria, fungi, or parasites that have taken up residence in your gut.
As a result, these gut bugs can release inflammatory compounds (endotoxins), that can lead to a temporary increase in symptoms over a 1-2 week period.
Symptoms of die-off reactions could range from:
- bloating
- fatigue & brain fog
- constipation and/or diarrhea
- acid reflux
- nausea
- headaches
- skin issues (acne, hives, or rashes)
- flu like symptoms (body aches & chills)
Understand that in many cases, these reactions are normal and are actually apart of the healing journey. However, that doesn't mean you have to suffer through them.
My goal in this podcast is to educate you on what's normal, and what things you can do to mitigate die-off reactions as much as possible.
I hope you enjoy!
