Welcome to the BMS podcast! I'm Rafael, a French-Peruvian osteopath based in Paris and a Research Affiliate at the A.T. Still Research Institute (USA). With a research background (h-index 12), my work now focuses on how sociocultural and experiential factors shape body representations, with particular attention to non-materialistic worldviews rooted in long-standing Indigenous healing traditions that extend beyond the biological body as understood in Western culture. 💢 Welcome to the BMS Podcast!

🎯 We are excited to present our podcast dedicated to bring more compassion and tolerance between people holding different worldview in healthcare and beyond. This podcast explores different medical anthropological perspectives on health, illness and disease to promote ethical and inclusive healthcare approaches for patients in our Western secular environment. 🌎 My name is Rafael, I'm French and Peruvian, born in Morocco. I'm a registered osteopath practicing in Paris with a background of researcher in the US (h index = 9). Increasing awareness of diverse sociocultural health assumptions may foster culturally sensitive care, especially when including non-Western sociocultural belief systems of health into evidence-informed person-centered care. We created BMS Formation in 2019, a CPD course provider established in France to promote evidence-informed, person-centered and culturally-sensitive care.
