Part 3 of the "Mothering While Black" mini-series.
This week I am joined by Ashley Ramclam, Ed.S, a friend, colleague, and new 1st-time mommy. Ashley addresses the various types of postpartum disorders and how they disproportionately affect Black women. We discuss shame and stigma associated with certain postpartum disorders, why some Black women have difficulty seeking proper treatment, and signs and symptoms for new parents to pay attention to. We also dispel common breastfeeding myths and discuss the importance of finding community and support as individuals transition into "mothering while black".
