Sam Raimi detonated onto the horror scene in 1981 with this grueling, wild picture, starring the man himself, Bruce Campbell. The premise is simple: five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods to "party down," and happen upon the Necronomicon and a tape recorder. They unwittingly call forth all sorts of nastiness, and all hell breaks loose, literally. It's independent filmmaking at its finest.
