6. To check if you say formal or informal words in conversational Thai?
The nature of Thai language: some Thai words are used differently when Thais use in polite/formal way and casual way/daily life conversation. Mostly, you will see it obviously when you compare between words in conversational Thai and in writings or signs. Here are some examples: 1) So = (เลย loey) & [จึง jueng] 2) Wait a minute = (แป๊บนึง bpaeb nueng) & [สักครู่ sak kroo] 3) Although = (ถึง tueng) & [ถึงแม้ว่า tueng mae waa] 4) Eat = (กิน gin) & [ทาน taan, รับประทาน rab bpra taan] 5) Money = (ตังค์ dtang) & [เงิน ngern] 6) Purse = (กระเป๋าตังค์ grabpao dtang) & [กระเป๋าเงิน grabpao ngern] 7) Change = (ตังค์ทอน dtang torn) & [เงินทอน ngern torn] —————— To enquire for “Thai Private Lessons” both online and face-to-face lessons, please contact: thebeautyofthailanguage@gmail.com; visit our website www.btthai.net
