A very powerful and honest interview is going to be had on my show tomorrow night from 8-9 PM on Radio Kerry. Brid O Connor is a phenomenal person with an important massage. Sometimes when things happen us, we say “Why me?” I found myself in that situation after I had my accident, but then I said, “Why anyone else?” My guest today is a woman from my hometown of Killarney. Brid O Connor knows what it feels like to face adversity head on. Whether it was the devastating news of her mother receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis or the fact that only 15 months on from this, Bríd herself would be told that she too had cancer. Prompted by the loss and her own journey through cancer, she wanted to find stories that others could find comfort in and that will give hope during the lowest hour.
During this time Brid said she had lost her “spark” and that it took time for it to re-emerge but when she found it again, she knew she could help others with her story. The book is a beautiful collection of conversations with many familiar faces and others include Billy Keane, sports star Louise Galvin and fashion designer Don O’Neil. The incredible contributors to spark share stories of grief, serious illness, life altering events and challenges and the book is filled with messages of hope. Proceeds will go to Comfort for Chemo, Kerry’s €5 million project to build a centre of excellence for the patients of Kerry.
Tune into Radio Kerry every Wednesday night from 8-9 PM on 96-98 FM or you can listen to it live on the Radio Kerry website. Where I will be talking to someone different every week who has overcome obstacles in their life, faced adversity, achieved great things or the ordinary Joe Soap because at the end of the day everyone has a interesting story to tell!
