Episode 5: The Power of Self-Compassion, Community, and Writing

For this week's episode, I am honored to welcome Dr. Marcos McPeek-Villatoro. 

Marcos McPeek Villatoro is the author of six novels, two collections of poetry and a memoir. His Romilia Chacón crime fiction books have won national acclaim (named a Best Book by the Los Angeles Times) and have been translated into German, Russian, Portuguese and Japanese.

Marcos holds the Fletcher Jones Endowed Chair in Writing at Mount St. Mary's College. He has performed on NPR, PBS and KCET Los Angeles, for which he won 2 L.A. Emmy Awards for his commentaries.

He is the director of the documentary TAMALE ROAD (CAMINO TAMALERO), which has played in festivals in the U.S., Mexico and El Salvador. It's also used as a tool for teaching Central American history and culture.

Marcos teaches and lectures on poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and his Latino and Appalachian heritages. He lives in Los Angeles, California.
