A recent update YouTube made to its mobile application is the default tab users are taken to when the app is opened. Traditionally, you would see a feed of videos similar to the desktop version. Now, when you close the app in Shorts and reopen it, YouTube defaults to Shorts.
This is part of a larger trend by YouTube to get on the shortform video game. So, if you aren't posting shortform vertical videos to YouTube, now is the time to start!
