Banality is the whole point of life. Discover golden nuggets in banality with us. We are Nepalese immigrants living in the US, immigrated to the US for graduate school and latched ourselves into this hodgepodge of a society. Our story is quite trivial, hence the name Banal. The attention economy is not conducive to mundane experiences of people, but we feel quite the opposite. We (as in you the reader and us the hosts) heard same old stories growing up, had similar trails and tribulations. Most importantly, we are shaped by a set of common, not so interesting experiences but somehow we are oblivious to the fact these prosaic endeavors are what matter the most in life. To that end, discovering and highlighting golden nuggets in intuitively uninspiring stories of people is the whole point of this little experiment of ours. We encourage you to engage with us and live vicariously through our episodes.

The Doctor: Medical Profession in Nepal (Ft. Dr. Dalim Kafle, MD)

For this episode, we bring you a conversation with Dr. Dalim Kafle, MD, resident doctor at Illam Hospital Nepal. Dalim got his MBBS from lumbini medical college in Palpa and went ahead to pursue an MD in general medicine at the Patan Hospital.

We venture into many avenues of the medical profession like expectation vs reality in MBBS education in Nepal. The general state of the medical community in Nepal as well as some of the anecdotal experiences from the front lines of COVID fight in Nepal, of which Dalim served from the Patan Hospital.

All in all, this was a fun and interesting conversation. We hope you will enjoy it.
