The only thing separating you from the comfort of your own home to living in poverty is one... bad... day. It's humbling to think about. Today, we'll explore behind the scenes of our homeless and domestic violence populations and the issues the face from the eyes of someone who works directly with these folks. Between juggling clients in her homeless outreach programs, obtaining her LPC (licensed professional counselor), and managing her counseling clients she sees after hours, our guest Megan has been a busy woman over the past few years. I found time to sit down and talk to our guest  about the common misconceptions of homeless people and victims of domestic violence, and what systems are in place to help these folks out. Social Work and Counseling is daunting... and a service that, in my opinion, is often taken for granted by those who are not affected by cases of homelessness or DV. In this episode, we hope to shed a little light on the troubles these people, and the clients they serve, face every day.
