The Planets This Month: April 2019

April promises to be more settled than what we experienced throughout March. Communication planet Mercury will move from Pisces to Aries which offers more of a faster pace and quick thinking from all. We do need to be careful that we are not jumping into situations too quickly without forethought.

Love planet Venus will also be moving into Aries so there will be a lot of action and energy in social situations. If you’re single and dating this influence is great for new experiences and beginnings. It doesn’t mean relationships will last it simply means there are a lot of experiences to be had.

The Sun will shift from Aries to Taurus so life settles down a little from the hectic and what has oftentimes been chaotic. Taurus is about enjoying life’s simple pleasures and prioritizing quality over quantity.

Expansive Jupiter turns retrograde until August which means take care when traveling or starting a class or course. Philosophical ideals may change during this period. Jupiter is currently in Sagittarius where it has been since November 8th, 2018. Sagittarius is where Jupiter expresses itself most purely. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, luck, and optimism, and Sagittarius is the sign of travel, higher learning, adventure, and philanthropy. Jupiter in Sagittarius offers a welcomed wave of positive energy and optimism regardless if it’s retrograde, or not.

Pluto, planet of change and transformation will turn also turn retrograde in Capricorn until October. Typically, this is not news unless the retrograde happens to trigger a natal planet or point in your birth chart. This means life may unfold in a new direction for many of us during this period.

The astro headlines of the week are love planet Venus moving into Pisces, communication planet Mercury turning direct while action planet Mars moves into Gemini.

Under the influence of Venus in Pisces from March 26th until April 20th and depending on where this ingress transits through your birth chart, you could be an incurable romantic. You might be prone to fantasy when it comes to love, seeing the god or goddess in everyone you meet, and thinking that you’ve met your dream partner. Practicality and discrimination go out the window, and you’re willing to sacrifice it all for your ideal love.

Boundaries become more fluid, and it’s harder to tell where you end and your beloved begins. In fact, you probably won’t care, as you long to merge into ecstatic oneness. You might have a tendency to lose yourself in relationship-land and could be quite hedonistic. Illusion and disillusion are the downsides of this dreamy transit. Be sure to get a reality check from a more objective third party before making any long-term commitments.

Mercury finally turns direct in Pisces! This means we make decisions based on feelings rather than logic now. You’re also more sensitive to other people’s feelings, and your decisions could be motivated by compassion. You may not be able to explain how you came to a certain conclusion. Words might elude you now, and you long to express yourself in non-verbal ways.

Finally, action planet Mars moves into Gemini so you may have trouble maintaining focus on anything for very long. Many of us are speaking at a fast pace, or you could dominate conversations by grabbing the microphone without letting someone else have a chance to talk. You’ll be great at going out to get information, but not so good at processing it or making up your mind.

What do the planets have in store for us this week? Happy New Year! Yes, you heard this correctly.

One of the headlines of the year is on Wednesday 20th we will be celebrating the Vernal Equinox. This marks the official start of spring, in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere it is the start of autumn. The equinox coincides with the start of the astrological new year and the Sun moving into Aries, the first sign of the zodiac.

Also, this week, there’s a Full Moon in Libra so you will likely notice the quality of your relationships improving thanks to your thoughtful attempts at fairness and compromise. As human beings, we have a strange, but unconscious way of mimicking the behavior of others. When met by a charming smile from a stranger, our faces respond with an equally bright grin. Yawns have the same effect. Try coughing in a large public room full of people – at least a few folks will cough in response.

With those you are closest to, they too will mimic the consideration and respect that you’ve shown them. You’re beginning to see the flavor of your relationships take on a sweeter side. Who can resist a person who treats them with utmost respect, trust, and kindness? Power imbalances may begin to level out, as long as you continue to not only be thoughtful, but also clear about your own expectations.

If you have been working on redecorating your home or office, continue selecting colors, objects, and textures that produce a tranquil environment. Look through a few more catalogs, visit a few more stores, and soon you will have created a space that is worth all the work you put into it.

The Planets This Month: March 2019

March is already upon us! The main event in March is unpredictable Uranus will move into Taurus for the final time this cycle. We can expect financial shakeups and sudden events. The fixed signs may find life brings some unusual and unexpected happenings and encounters. Uranus moved into Taurus on May 15th, 2018 and gave us a small taste of what to expect for the next seven years.

For the first time in 2019, communication planet Mercury will be turning retrograde in the final degree of the zodiac. For many of us, in particular, the mutable signs – Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces there will be confusion and misunderstandings. Redoing, reviewing and anything else that starts with RE will be the best way to utilize this energy.

Love planet Venus moves into Aquarius which is a great time for friendships and connecting with like minded people both online and offline. For the air signs – Gemini, Libra and Aquarius this is a month where your social needs will be met.

At the end of March, Venus will then move into sweet and gentle Pisces, a sign it likes. From this time through April romance will be the air. The water signs – Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces will get a big amp up in the love department. It’s also a great time for boosting friendships and pursuing creative endeavors. The key is to do something you love in a creative way. It’s also a good time for charitable, compassionate and caring causes. Go help out at an animal shelter or old folk’s home.

Happy Birthday Pisces

This show is dedicated to the twelfth sign of the zodiac – Pisces. This week, the Sun moves into Pisces where it will be until March 20th. This is a good time to pursue creative endeavors, performing arts and spiritual pursuits. Pisces is symbolized by the Fish, those two little creatures whose scales glint in the sun as they follow where the stream takes them. And just as that stream can symbolize the subconscious mind or the winding path of life itself, Pisces is like those fish, swimming along in the currents, taking what comes and throwing off rainbows as it goes.

During this time, you could find that ‘reality’ is in fact only a small bit of the true larger picture; the spirit world is really where it’s at. Try not to avoid or escape the so-called Real World in order to hang out in that preferable alternate reality. Be very careful that this does not devolve into evasion or avoidance.

Also, this week, we have a Full Moon Super Moon in Virgo. During the Virgo Full Moon, you’ll probably feel a sense of achievement as you notice the progress of your efforts to tidy up at home and at work. Things seem to be a lot easier to locate now that you’ve organized your stuff into more manageable piles. Although you may not be completely finished putting things away or tossing them out, you’re beginning to actually see some open space in your environment. In matters of health, you feel the effects of your exercise routine — or lack of one. Give yourself more time to reach the optimal goal that you originally set out to accomplish.

The Planets This Week: February 11, 2019

The astro headline of the week is warrior planet Mars moving into gentle Taurus where it will be until March 30th. This will be a welcome reprieve after a hectic six weeks while Mars was in Aries. Mars is usually very happy with Aries but this time not so much as it was forming so very challenging angles to the outer planets. Now, while Mars is in Taurus, we can expect a slower pace, much more methodical, pragmatic and practical.

Before Mars moves into Taurus on Thursday, he will be making his final tough aspect when he conjuncts unpredictable Uranus. This is a volatile and rageful energy that brings unexpected situations and encounters. This is especially true if you are born towards the end of any of the cardinal signs – Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

Also, this week, communication planet Mercury moves into dreamy Pisces. This is an extra long Mercury cycle because it will turn retrograde on March 5th until March 28th. Mercury is the planet that is connected to our thought processes, logic, understanding and of course communication. It isn’t a good fit when it’s with Pisces as this sign is more about emotions and feelings. When the two come together it’s a disjointed energy.

Mercury turns retrograde about three times a year for three weeks each time. This Mercury retrograde period promises to be a tough one filled with miscommunication, confusion and misunderstandings. The best way to counter-balance this energy is to be more creative and to use the right side of your brain. Performing arts, intuition, music – anything that’s connected to the sign Pisces. Care and compassion for yourself and others is another way to dissipate potentially fraught situations.

You’re not likely to spend your money on anything frivolous; you want things that are not only practical but also of good quality under this influence.

The Planets This Month: February 2019

This month promises to be memorable and not necessarily in a good way. The month starts with a very intense Mars-Pluto square. This destructive energy is about unconscious power plays, manipulations and outright control-grabbing, life can get kinda dicey with this intense and often rageful transit. Hurt feelings can quickly turn into rage so take care as there is more volatile energy mid-month when Mars once again will be wrecking havoc when it conjuncts unpredictable Uranus. We just don’t care what others think right now and our speech and behavior show it. We could say anything — the more shocking, the better. When taken to the extreme this energy can become violent so it’s best to tread lightly at this time.

Thankfully, and just in time for Valentine’s Day warrior Mars will move into gentle Taurus so the intensity of earlier in the month begin to settle down. With this transit slow and steady may be our motto. Physically, many of us will be strong and sturdy.

A New Moon in Aquarius on February 4th switches attention to innovations, networking and community interests, but this very busy cosmic opening to the month may well have left tempers frayed and confidence ebbing.

There are also many fortuitous influences this month too. An auspicious Sun-Jupiter sextile bring hope, joy and optimism on the 7th. What’s important now is the broader vision, the higher principle; don’t bother with the little, troublesome details that can bog us down. On the 19th there’s a Full Moon Supermoon in Virgo. The Planets This Week: January 14, 2019

We have a quiet week but are in the middle of two very intense eclipses. 2019 started off with warrior planet Mars in action-oriented Aries while the radiant Sun came together with ambitious Saturn. This confluence of energies had many of us thinking about the future and where we want to go. On top of these influences we had a Solar Eclipse in long-term thinking Capricorn. For the earth signs – Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn this means new financial beginnings while for the cardinal signs there may be forced change that was not anticipated.

The second eclipse on January 20th is a Lunar Eclipse in stubborn Leo. This influence is about finding compromise with others and not being too fixed. Take care with drama and exaggeration at this time. For many of us, there will be decisions that need to be made with regards to helping the community or even global outreach. The midpoint of two eclipses is a time for reflection and to plan where you want to head in the future.

There may be confusion at the beginning of the week with a confusing Jupiter-Neptune square. This is part of a cycle that will also occur at other time throughout the year. At this time, many of us may have some sort of spiritual break-down. We need to turn to our faith and ask for guidance. This is not a grounding influence and this is not a good time to focus on details. It’s not a good time to make financial decisions or do anything in excess. Avoid drugs and alcohol too. Beware of opportunities that seems too good to be true.

The year starts out with action planet Mars in its own sign of Aries so 2019 gets off to a flying start. On January 5th there’s a Solar Eclipse in ambitious Capricorn which is great energy for making long-term plans, thinking strategically and putting ambitions into play. Then on January 25th there’s an intense Lunar Eclipse in the royal sign of Leo. This means we need to keep our egos in check and help those in need.

For most of January and all of February there will be no planets in retrograde motion. This will provide all of us a reprieve to plan our future and move forward without too many obstacles and limitations.

In July, we have two more eclipses. The first is a Solar Eclipse in moody Cancer. Many of us may find ourselves focused on family matters and issues around the home. On July 16th we have another intense Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn. Manifestations that were set in motion at the beginning of the year may finally start to materialize.

In 2019 we have three dreaded Mercury retrogrades. The first in March then July and finally in November. These are times when we need to take caution with communication, travel plans and purchasing electronic equipment. These periods are good for reviewing, renewing and recycling.

In December, expansive Jupiter moves into goal seeking Capricorn where it will stay through 2020. This is a time when many of us will feel motivated and optimistic about our professional endeavors.

The Planets This Week: December 17, 2018

This show is dedicated to Capricorn as the Sun moves into Capricorn on December 21st which coincides with the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.

Under the influence of the Capricorn Sun and depending on how this transit affects the other planets in your chart, you won’t have much time for nonsense. There’ll be too much to get done, and the inner pressure to do it will be too great.

You’ll want nothing more than to be a success, however you define it. For some that means succeeding in the world of finance and business, board rooms and banks.

During this period, your administrative capacity, willingness to work long hours and sense of responsibility all but ensure that you’ll meet your goals and most probably exceed them.

You’ll also have a strong inner parent, one who will be stern, demanding, and unforgiving. There’s an old saying about the Capricorn influence: you’re old when you’re young, and young when you’re old. If you can achieve this during this time you’ll have the best of both worlds: success and self-respect that you’ll earn through hard work and achievement, yet the ability to remain youthful and flexible.

The Planets This Week: December 3, 2018

Overall, December is a fairly quiet month and this week is perhaps the busiest. We have Mercury retrograding back into Scorpio, Venus moving back into Scorpio, a New Moon in Sagittarius and Mercury finally turning direct after being retrograde since November 16th.

The retrograde Mercury in Scorpio is a powerful influence that can throw your reasoning ability right out the door. Although your perceptions may be quite keen, the words that stream from your mouth indicate a less than rational mind. If you’re in a partnership, this could be an excellent time to deepen your bond and strengthen your sense of trust. But you may need to work through some of the shadow sides of Scorpio to get there — jealousy, abandonment and betrayal. The more you’re willing to expose yourself by sharing your deepest thoughts and feelings, the better your chances for regenerating your relationship and transforming old patterns.

While Venus is in Scorpio and depending on how this transit affects your natal chart, you may find yourself longing for deep intimacy and intense passion. You don’t have much patience for superficial connections or casual dating, preferring to relate to a few close friends and one significant other. When you get involved, you want to give all of yourself and reveal the very core of your being.

The Sagittarius New Moon awakens an inner need for many kinds of stimulation. Having recently completed a contemplative period, your body craves for some excitement now. You may find yourself daydreaming about travel to foreign lands, or maybe tackling a philosophical conundrum. Boredom is an issue that has your fingers tapping restlessly. The Planets This Month: December 2018

December opens with a passionate and somewhat volatile feel, as Venus sashays into Scorpio, unleashing plenty of sensual energy but also strong potential for jealousy and obsession. With Mercury turning direct – also in Scorpio – a few days later on December 6th, communication gets slightly easier, but the devil is in the detail. Be sure to pin down exactly what someone means before trusting them. This will be especially important on December 7th, when a confusing Mars-Neptune conjunction makes it easy both to mislead and to be misled.

Fortunately, also on December 7th we have a breezy, optimistic Sagittarius New Moon. Any mistrust which occurs due to misunderstandings can be quickly swept away if there is positive good intent from all parties. Once Mercury shifts back into Sagittarius on December 12th, minor angst should be forgotten, and cosmic energies take an optimistic step forward.

The middle of December is quiet, astrologically speaking. However, a fiery trine between the Sun and Uranus on December 20th does hint at surprises and possibly shocks – it may be the holiday season, but there’s no need to go crazy, especially with finances! The solstice on December 21st marks the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, and the arrival of the Sun in responsible Capricorn. This is a moment to look back at the year which is almost over, and to tie up lose ends ahead of the festivities.

A confusing Mercury-Neptune square may lead to forgetfulness or last-minute hitches on December 24th, but a warm and hospitable Leo Moon ensures that festive goodwill wins out. As 2018 draws to a close, warrior planet Mars arrives “home” in Aries on December 31st – so passions may flare alongside the New Year fireworks.

This show is dedicated to Sagittarius! The Sun moves into Sagittarius on November 22nd where it will stay until December 21st. During this time travel may feed your adventurous spirit. If you can’t leave the country, at least take a day trip to a neighboring town or any place you’ve never visited. The wilderness might also call to you, and a hike in the woods or a camping trip could be just what you need to restore your vitality and reconnect with your inner truth. Intellectual travel will also be satisfying — through attending lectures, taking classes or simply talking with people who see the world very differently from yourself. The important part is that you’re growing and expanding in some way.

There is also a Full Moon in Gemini so you may be pleasantly surprised by the progress you are making with the project you initiated during the New Moon on November 7th. Additional insights can make your endeavor seem even more worthwhile, once you incorporate them. You’ll have a sense of accomplishment once you are able to share what you’ve learned with others. No doubt, people will be impressed by what you tell them. Your quest for knowledge can be personally fulfilling once the answers come to you, and you get a chance to show off just a little.

Nebulous Neptune turns direct on Saturday after being retrograde since June. Many of us won’t notice the effects of this occurrence but Neptune in Pisces represents spirituality, the arts, music, photography, fashion, glamor, Hollywood, charity, water, large institutions, drugs and alcohol. If you are a mutable sign – Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces then this influence may affect you.

The Planets This Month: November 2018

The first week of November has a healing theme: two beautiful trines, firstly between Jupiter and Chiron and then between the Sun and Neptune both encourage compassion, sincerity and trust. A New Moon in Scorpio on November 7th continues this theme, allowing emotions to be aired and positively channeled. However, when Uranus retrogrades back into warrior-like Aries on November 6th, attitudes may become regressive and dogmatic, so we will need to guard against overly entrenched opinions.

Jupiter arrives in Sagittarius for the first time in 11 years on November 8th, bringing a huge upsurge in positivity, generosity and optimism. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, luck, and optimism, and Sagittarius is the sign of travel, higher learning, adventure, and philanthropy. Considering the heaviness of many of 2018’s transits, Jupiter in Sagittarius offers a welcomed wave of positive energy and optimism.

Another bold sign change on November 15th also signals positive change: when Mars moves into Pisces, many of us can channel our energies towards the common good with much greater success than before. Making amends for the past is an important part of healing the future, and when Mercury turns retrograde on November 16th, we have a chance to do just that.

The Libra New Moon shifts our attention to relationship issues with business associates, our sweetheart and friends. Cooperation is vital to a harmonious life. We should Consider the bonds that we have with others. Compromise is at the heart of peaceful coexistence. Respect, love and trust are generally earned, so ponder how to develop these qualities within relationships. Address balance issues if you’re involved in an unequal association.

Also, this week, love planet Venus forms a challenging square to passionate Mars. Desire-driven physical urges can be very strong, almost irresistible. We tend to do what we want and not think about the consequences until later. If libido is getting the best of us, a passionate rendezvous will help.

With the Sun forming a challenging square to Pluto power struggles are practically unavoidable this week. It could be quite an emotional time as a result. It’s all about power plays that will seem to come out of nowhere, and they could blow up really fast.
