This is The Art Dept., a podcast dedicated to those that construct the sets, production designers, illustrators, props, fabrication, wardrobe, set decorators and all the other craftsmen and women who make movie and TV magic. I’m Josh Cooperman, I host and produce Convo By Design. A show dedicated to the design and architecture industries. I first started interviewing set decorators in 2014 and have been following them and their work ever since. The Art Dept. was created to showcase the amazing individuals behind the camera who don’t with a single word, say a single line or appear on screen. Yet, their work defines the experience of your favorite shows, commercials and movies. The entertainment industry is like no other. There are long hours, hard, long hours. Members of the art department don’t say ‘no.’ And they don’t take shortcuts. This is an industry that breaks the rules everyday to get the job done. And they make it happen so we can enjoy their work and escape reality for a little while.
