Inside The New Kadampa Tradition

In this final and deeply personal episode of the New Kadampa series host Tiffany reflects on her six month long investigation into the New Kadampa Tradition (NKT), a controversial Buddhist organization. The group draws in many members due to it’s promise of community, spiritual growth, and a practice of “modern Buddhism” but could it be too good to be true?

In this episode we reference the work of Dr. Michelle Haslam, a clinical psychologist and former member, whose 100-page document "Potential Harm to Mental and Physical Health Through Exposure to the New Kadampa Tradition" adds to the concerns about the groups practices.

The contrast between the NKT and authentic Buddhist values becomes undeniable when examining the groups actions which include deceptive advertising, mental health risks, and the misuse of Buddhist practices. Described by many as a cult of personality the group uses financial exploitation and questionable ordination practices on it’s path to grow even larger. Join us this episode as we supply the facts so you can make an informed decision about this group. May peace be with you.
