An Anfield hero got a bloody nose on his homecoming this week as Liverpool defeated Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa side. On this week’s podcast, Luke and James are here to discuss all the action including the key decisions in that match.

We chatted about the different manner of Liverpool wins of late, and why grinding out results is just as vital as putting teams to the sword. Another goal for Mo Salah prompted another chat about his contract situation and whether we should be worried at the seeming lack of movement on that front. 

The lads also looked ahead to the visit of Newcastle. While on paper this should be an easy win, we mentioned what we expect from the Geordies, whether the richest club in the world is doomed for the Championship and why nothing but a win will do.

With the Christmas fixtures coming thick and fast, we also wondered whether or not it might be a time for Klopp to rotate his side with the likes of Konate, Tsimikas, Keita and more waiting in the wings. 

Plus, there was time to look at an absolute shit show of a UEFA Champions League draw which, eventually, saw Liverpool paired with Italian giants Inter Milan.
