My guest today is Courage Coach, Mo Jones! She helps women entrepreneurs embrace fear to speak with courage online to grow their business and audience. Mo got her master's in Speech, Language, Pathology and has worked with kids to help them with their speech. She has used that as a launching pad into her more recent creative work as the a Coach and Founder of the Breathe, Speak, Glow Community. In this community, she supports women to venture out of their comfort zone by using their voice! She practices what she preaches by putting herself out there. In the 2nd part, we focus on Jessica's passion for beekeeping. She tells her origin story that launched her dedication to bees, provides some interesting facts about bees, and gives tips on how to help bees. We also talk about how her beekeeping and fascia work cross-pollinate each other! Pun intended!
I am delighted to have Jessica Kern on my podcast today! Jessica is a certified neuromuscular therapist who has been in practice since 2005. She assists clients in resolving complex pain patterns. Additionally, she has been a beekeeper for 8 years. She actively draws insights from her studies of beekeeping and neuroplasticity, to think creatively and scientifically about solving the mysteries around pain. She has a passion for sharing what she has learned, particularly in how to support clients with long standing or confusing pain issues. Because Jessica and I cover so much, I have split this interview into 2 parts. The 1st part we focus on her work with fascia and neuroplasticity, and the 2nd part we talk about beekeeping and how this is connected with her fascia work. There are so many good nuggets in here! You don't want to miss it!
My guest today is Bob Goldsborough, and he is a longtime friend back from when I lived in the Midwest. Bob is an equity analyst for a money manager and he also has been a longtime freelance journalist for the Chicago Tribune. Even though I have known Bob for years, I recently discovered that he also has a passion for history and wrote a biography on a local architect. In our conversation, I uncover an underlying trait that runs across Bob's various positions, which helps him – he overcomes fear and remains persistent in his jobs. I think this trait is very admirable and something we can all learn from. You don't want to miss how we also talk about storytelling . You don't want to miss how we weave storytelling and communication across his various roles.

Melinda plays an old Scottish tune in both G major to G minor. She had adapted the key to better fit the mood of the tune.
I have such an exciting interview with my friend, Melinda Crawford Perttu, to share with you today! Melinda and I talk about her childhood memories of going to the fun and vibrant Scottish highland games, or Scottish festivals, with her family. At these festivals, she discovered her love of Scottish fiddling and started entering fiddling competitions. Fiddling since age 11, Melinda has won numerous awards for her solo playing and her original compositions. She also performs as a member of the Grammy-nominated bagpipe/percussion band, The Rogues, and is the Director of the Strathgheny School of Scottish Fiddling held ever year in July at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. In addition to her fiddling, Melinda is also an associate professor of music at Westminster College, while also the orchestra director, and string education specialist, and violin/viola instructor. With a sound that harkens back to the Highlands and Islands, she has performed the music of traditional and modern Scottish fiddling in Scotland and throughout the United States. Blending traditional tunes and her own compositions, she weaves images of ancient lands into sets with vibrant dances that are as much fun to listen to as they are to play. I have included links to Melinda's Youtube channel for you to hear examples of her fiddling. I am also so excited to share with you a bonus episode of Melinda's music. In our conversation, Melinda talks about how she took a melody and adapted it to better fit the story and tone. You can hear the original melody and Melinda's re-interpretation in the bonus episode. Melinda's story as a trailblazing Scottish fiddler is so inspiring. You don't want to miss it!
You can find Melinda on her Youtube channel.

Today's episode is with my longtime friend, Dr. Daniel Perttu. We went to both high school and graduate school together. Dan is currently Professor of Music Theory and Composition at Westminster College, where he also serves as the Chair of the School of Music. His music has been performed on four continents and in over 40 of the United States and he has also received various commissions and awards. His music can be found on the Navona records label, in which his music has appeared on five albums. I had an inkling that music was a field that really combines both analytical and technical aspects, with creative expression. And I thought what better way to see that come together than to interview a composer! Dan has also shared a youtube link to one of his works called: To Spring (An Overture), performed by Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra. You can find it in the link below. Hearing the music will bring the concepts we talk about to life! We cover so much ground that I split this into 2 parts! In the first part, we talk about how music activates multiple centers around the brain, also how he started composing when he was 7 years old, and how he composes as a daily practice. In the 2nd part, we talk about how other composers influence him, how composers network, and also he is venturing into endeavors beyond music! You don't want to miss our deep dive into all things music!

Welcome back to Part 2 of my interview with Kristy. Kristy talks about how she started choreagraphing dances in her garage as a child with her pink boombox, but then denied that creative side to pursue something more serious. Today, I am sharing a conversation with my friend Kristy Gordon. Kristy and I met in the Artist's Way group led by my friend Jaime, which I had previously mentioned in my interview with Lindsay. Kristy earned her PhD in sociology, which she has used in teaching, research in social inequality, and consulting. Because Kristy and I had such a rich and wide-ranging conversation, I divided this interview into 2 podcast episodes. In Part 1, Kristy beautifully describes how she uses both her analytical and creativity skills in her research to design meaningful studies and also how she uses these to develop strong connections with students. In Part 2, to be released on Wednesday, Kristy and I talk about how dancing has been an important creative outlet for her, ever since she started choreagraphing dances in her garage as a child with her pink boombox. Come listen as Kristy shares how that that childhood past time has evolved into her current dance business and also how she brings in her analytical mindset with her consulting career. You don't want to miss Kristy and my conversation!
