The Outdoor Forum For South East Asia Schools is a fantastic annual event that brings together people in the outdoor education space from schools and providers all around South East Asia and beyond.
In this episode we go behind the scenes with Martin Foakes, Board Chair and Rob Carmichael, Board Member of OFFSEAS to hear all about the backstory, the growth of the forum and the latest conference event in Spring 2025.
We also discover what is next in the pipeline for OFFSEAS and when and where next year's conference event will take place: 25-26 April, 2026 at Garden International School, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!
Even for those not in South East Asia, there is lot to be inspired about as we relive the motivational vibes of the event. We discuss the benefits of this type of conference for participants in any part of the world and unpack and celebrate some of the key things that make these events - and outdoor education as a whole - such a meaningful and worthwhile world to be a part of.

In this special video episode, we meet Tina Brodard of Le Coco Tier, an outdoor-focused resort amongst the paddy fields of northern Thailand.
Tina took a unique journey to reach the outdoor education industry as she studied hotel management and went on to work in luxury hotels before transitioning to management of the family business, a nature-based resort which also hosts outdoor experiences for school groups as well as yoga retreats and family getaways.
I was keen to discover what the rest of us could learn from Tina's unique experience set. What were the key similarities between the industries, the most important differences and some interesting lessons that outdoor operators could learn from our counterparts in the world of luxury hospitality?
Join us as we explore these topics while wandering around amongst the tranquil nature of the resort!
In this episode we explore useful tricks of the trade when it comes to smooth operations. Specifically, when providing for large groups such as huge school groups or team building retreats, how can we be extremely organised, efficient, safe and effective in the way that we plan and execute the programs.
The guest is Sawyer Chen, Managing Partner of Imagine China, good friend of Pete and a stellar example of someone who is always incredibly effective at managing projects with large groups in the outdoors.
When we live and breathe our outdoor lifestyle, sometimes we forget what it was like to experience everything for the first time.
It can be valuable to get back into the mind of someone learning a new outdoor sport and what it's really like to be a customer and a student. Only then can we deliver what is needed of us as organisers, instructors and guides and remember to keep everyone AMPed.
That's why this week we learn from the stories of Justin Cheong, a fun and delightful city-dwelling gentleman from Singapore heading to the snowy mountains of Japan and snowboarding with Pete.
New this week is also a simple adventure industry news round-up section!

Sit back as we dive deep into the many fascinating ways that narrative elements can enhance any outdoor experience.
On the show this week to help unpack this multi-faceted subject with first-hand accounts from many years in the industry is Olli Stewart, Pete's business partner and old friend from Imagine Taiwan.

In this first episode, we dive into the topic of AI vs the Adventure Industry with the help of special guest Steve - a world-renowned expert who is well and truly at the cutting edge of the AI world.
Will we keep our jobs? Is AI making the industry safer or more dangerous? How does it benefit customers and managers, and what pitfalls are we exposing ourselves to?
It’s Adventure Industry (AI) vs AI, round one. Ding ding.
Kick back and enjoy the debate between Steve and your host Pete Tupper!
