The Amazing Case
On the Mean Streets - Paramedic Rafi Uddin

Rafi Uddin is an Aussie expat working in the UK, and one of only a few paramedics to have a ballistic vest as part of his daily equipment. He is a member of his service’s specialist ‘tactical response unit’, working to expedite care of patients involved in police incidents. In this episode, Rafi walks us through his approach as first on scene to a major trauma case, and discusses principles of scene management, impromptu teams, trauma assessment and treatment.

The Amazing Case
One More Night on Earth - Dr. Chris Mobbs

The EMD team from Deakin University excited to bring you our third episode of the emergency medicine podcast, The Amazing Case.

This episode we speak to Geelong's Dr. Chris Mobbs about a case that pulled the heart strings (lung strings?) and reminds us of those tricky end of life conversations, and the difference that a day or two on this Earth can make to friends and families. During the case he also takes the time to talk us through chest drains, with some tips and tricks for good landmarks to use. Dr. Mobbs has an eclectic set of interests outside medicine and is currently one of EMD's academic mentors, and at his request, we have read the letter he mentions and added the end of the recording.
