Issues of bigotry, racism, and socioeconomic inequality have been happening for centuries and unfortunately put to the metaphorical back burner of the social agenda. In light of the heinous acts of violence towards the black community recently, these issues have come to full attention. It is from Self and only from Self that we can listen well to our black brothers and sisters in the fullness of their very appropriate rage and pain, educate ourselves on the black experience, and then take the action needed to change systemic injustice; even when that necessarily means voluntarily choosing to release privilege in order that greater equality might be achieved.
