Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is defending her upcoming fireside chat with Daily Wire founder Ben Shapiro, calling it an opportunity to bring Alberta’s message to a key U.S. audience. Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi attacked Smith over the meeting, claiming Shapiro is “far-right” and an “extremist.”
Smith is also pushing back against the federal government’s costly electricity regulations, with provincial ministers warning they won’t comply and will take Ottawa to court.
And in a major win for Alberta’s energy sector, Smith has proven former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrong by securing a liquefied natural gas (LNG) deal with Japan — despite Trudeau’s past claims that there was “no business case” for such agreements.
