The A-Trane Radio Program CFRO
Nou Dadoun
15 episodes
Jazz and creative music from all eras and styles curated by Nou Dadoun.  Focusing on new releases, birthdays and significant musical calendar events, and performances & releases relevant to the musical community in Vancouver, Canada and the World!
The music has roots in Black experience so every month is Black History Month.  Women are important contributors and participants in this music so every day is Women in Jazz Day.
We celebrate music that has the joy of creation, that knows where its been and (often) tries to see where it's going.
The A-Trane has been on the airwaves on community radio in Vancouver since 1982 and the current host has been in the broadcaster's chair since 1986.  Every show starts with a different version of our theme "Take the A Train" relevant to the date or Vancouver performances and then continues with a piece performed or inspired by John Coltrane.
Always engaging, sometimes challenging, never boring - the best in Jazz & Creative music!

The A-Trane 2025-09-19 - George Garzone 75, Akiko Tsuruga RIP, Hermeto Pascoal RIP etc
On this afternoon's edition of The A-Trane Radio Program saying goodbye to two stellar musicians who both passed on the same day this week: the Hammond B3 player Akiko Tsuruga and the Brazilian wizard multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal!
Also a preview for George Garzone's sold-out Tribute to John Coltrane performance at Tyrant Studios on Tuesday Sept 23rd to celebrate their shared birthdays - Coltrane's 99th and Garzone's 75th! GG is also playing at VIFF the next night to introduce the documentary FIRE MUSIC (tickets still available) and his appearance all presented in conjunction with our friends over at Infidels Jazz!
We'll also hear from another show they're presenting at Zameen Art House with Noah Franche-Nolan tonight!
And odds and ends with the Delta Rhythm Boys taking in a (new to me!) version of the A Train theme, new live release from Pharoah Sanders, and nods to Who knows Who from Petra Haden, Pete Townshend/Ronnie Lane, and Richie Havens!
Don't get fooled again, tune into Vancouver Co-op Radio CFRO 100.5FM or coopradio . org starting at Two Pacific - take a bow for the new revolution!
