The A-Trane Radio Program CFRO
Nou Dadoun
15 episodes
Jazz and creative music from all eras and styles curated by Nou Dadoun.  Focusing on new releases, birthdays and significant musical calendar events, and performances & releases relevant to the musical community in Vancouver, Canada and the World!
The music has roots in Black experience so every month is Black History Month.  Women are important contributors and participants in this music so every day is Women in Jazz Day.
We celebrate music that has the joy of creation, that knows where its been and (often) tries to see where it's going.
The A-Trane has been on the airwaves on community radio in Vancouver since 1982 and the current host has been in the broadcaster's chair since 1986.  Every show starts with a different version of our theme "Take the A Train" relevant to the date or Vancouver performances and then continues with a piece performed or inspired by John Coltrane.
Always engaging, sometimes challenging, never boring - the best in Jazz & Creative music!

The A-Trane 2025-08-08 - Art Pepper-Nancy King- Joe Daley-etc
A few extended features on this afternoon's edition of The A-Trane Radio Program starring with an early celebration of Art Pepper's Centenary with a 1980 weekend starting at Ronnie Scott's going into An Afternoon in Norway at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival released earlier this year. It seems as though every day brings bad news about great musicians we have lost and we'll have tributes to two wonderful artists who we lost this week - Nancy King and Joe Daley! We'll also have time for Benny Carter's birthday today (he takes in the theme from the Montreal Jazz Festival!) and upcoming performance features for Nick Hempton, Brad Shigeta (with a new trio release!), Jodi Gilbert, Michael Moore and more. We'll finish with a down payment on a tribute to the late Eddie Palmieri who will be featured on an upcoming A-Trane!

We have many musical debts at the A-Trane and they always get paid! Cash in this afternoon at 100.5FM or coopradio . org at 2pm and you'll definitely be richer for it!

If you want to follow along, here's the playlist!
