Welcome to That NICU Mum, a podcast where we share the stories of New Zealand parents who have had a baby in a neonatal unit across the country.
Today we speak with Sam, mum to Navy, Easton and Bodhi. Navy was born at term but was discovered within the hour after birth that she had a congenital pulmonary airway malformation - basically her right lung had not formed properly.
Navy was life flighted from Hawkes Bay to Wellington at 6 hours old and had surgery to remove her lung at just 3 days old.
Sam talks about Navy's diagnosis, their NICU journey, and her subsequent pregnancies and births with her sons and how her journey with Navy really shaped her family.
