In episode 6 of That movie sounds gay, I'll be looking at The Killer (1989).
Like Chang Cheh, John Woo is an important director in HK film history, and although there's no mistaking a John Woo movie for a Chang Cheh movie, the two filmmakers have a few things that connect them. They've worked together, their films generally focus on romanticised ideas of brotherhood and violence, and... they seem kind of gay.
Although this episode is focussing on The Killer, I'll also be talking about John Woo in general, his influences, and of course, heroic bloodshed.
