In episode 7 of That movie sounds gay, I'll be looking at Midnight Cowboy (1969).
Widely considered one of the best American films of all time, Midnight Cowboy is iconic. The film shows New York and loneliness and sexuality, all without flinching. At the time of its release, it pushed boundaries and it still remains the only x-rated film to win the best picture Oscar.
In this episode, I'll be taking a look at how the film handles sexuality, masculinity, and also some of the behind the scenes drama that makes it so interesting to look at from a gay pov.
