'Berlin protagonist Afem Syko brings plenty of colour to techno - not only with his music, but his look and his personality. He is something of an antidote to days gone by when those in the scene preferred to be clad in all black and maintain a moody look in their press shots. He is comfortable celebrating his individuality and encouraging his dancers to do the same, not least with the music he drops on labels like Amelie Lens's EXHALE and Kobosil's R Label Group.
