Geoff Gibson has been a mining professional for more than 16 years in a heap of UG Mines all around the globe, he is now managing one of the largest block cave mine in the world! In this chat, we yarned about his passion about mountaineering and high scaling work, which both are physically and mentality demanding job at the same time. Originally Geoff planned to go through a tour company to climb Puncak Jaya (Carstensz) – which is Indonesia’s highest peak, but not long after that a mining service company called him to do a high scaling work in the same region. This gave him the opportunity to fulfil his wish, and he peaked out SOLO the following year to Carstensz. Geoff also shares his strategies to be a good high-scaler crew.
