Lenneke Alves Bakker is the Airbus Head of Change Management & Support. With her Airbus digital workplace team she pioneers in the Airbus aerospace industry. In this podcast we talk on sustainability and the work Capgemini and Airbus is doing with respect to the digital workplace.
There are two big aerospace manufacturers in the world that make up for 2% of CO2 emissions. With that knowledge Airbus can really contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of aviation. Currently they run a 50:50 mix of fossil fuel and sustainable aviation fuel from waste materials. Ramping up to 100% in the coming year it will greatly reduce the CO2 footprint. A rapid develop is going on with the Airbus zero emission aircraft fuelled by Hydrogen. The big challenge is to store hydrogen in the aircraft as well as build the entire ecosystem around it that brings that hydrogen to the plane. A big engineering task to convert from current infrastructure to hydrogen infrastructure.
In order to achieve all this Lenneke and the Airbus digital workspace wants to give the engineers the tools to enable them to work efficiently and improve collaboration through the entire company. Airbus and Capgemini are working together to introduce new tools and technologies in the Airbus environment. For example google workspace was introduced as well as smartphones for all workforce employees. A citizen development approach helps to steer away from a jungle of macros to a low code no code solution by Google. Now all initiatives are documented and widely available for reuse in stead of only local on one laptop.
