THE SHOW
A lot to talk about with Ron Kubek. Co-Owner of Lightning Rock in Summerland.
Ron is very opinionated. Can’t blame him.
For far too many years, Canadian bureaucrats have stood in the way of wineries and provincial free trade across Canada. Promises broken, forgotten or never kept.
Ron Kubek is mad as hell and he’s not going to take it anymore.
He has so much to say, we’ve given him the whole show to say it in!!

Big news for Lightning Rock Winery!
The final results of the 2025 Wine Align National Wine Awards of Canada were just announced, and they’re thrilled to share that Lightning Rock has been named one of the Top 25 Wineries in the country.
“This recognition feels especially meaningful because it celebrates more than what’s in the bottle; it honours our entire approach. Farming organically in challenging conditions, making low-intervention wines that reflect our land, and staying true to a style that’s vibrant, expressive, and honest. We may be small, but we are most definitely mighty and very proud today.”

A Summerland winery is now shipping its wines directly to consumers in Ontario.
“Ontario wineries have been shipping freely into B.C. for years,” said Ron Kubek, owner of Lightning Rock Winery.
“We believe it’s only fair to extend the same courtesy in return.”
His decision came following a Memorandum of Understanding, signed by Ontario and British Columbia, to work towards direct-to-consumer shipping.
Although he is not yet able to legally ship his wines to customers in Ontario, Kubek said the principle of free interprovincial trade is already in place.
“If Ontarians can enjoy our wines just as British Columbians can enjoy theirs, we’re fostering true interprovincial fairness. We don’t need to wait for bureaucratic paperwork to do the right thing.”
“I ship to the U.S. with no tariffs,” he said. “Canadians can’t even enjoy Canadian wines without being gouged by their governments.”
