October 18th, 2025- Cobble Hill Winery!
This is such a great story.
Three professionals had a wine dream that turned into a plan and now a winery.
Steve Beecroft,  was born in a farming family in Trenton, Ont. Had a successful career in banking.
The love of his life, Tricia Huebner was a highly respected marketing and communications specialist.
Dylan Sheldon grew up on Kauai, Hawaii. He became a winemaker. His talent and success turned him into a flying winemaker. Working in Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania,  France and Sonoma he developed a desire to make singular wines. Dylan had a personal vineyard near Napa. Sheldon Wines. When pulled, the cork said “free at last”
That’s exactly what Steve and Tricia wanted to do. When they happened to meet each other in Napa/Sonoma, it became apparent that they had each met a wine soul mate.
Each of them wanted to grow and create outstanding wines in regions that hadn’t been overrun.
Alberino, Viognier, Gamay, Zweigelt, Sauvignon Blanc, a legendary Pinot Noir clone named Calera, Chenin Blanc, Gruner Veltliner, muscat & Gewurztraminer, Verdelho,   etc.
They took 5 trips to Italy. Then decided to try Canada. Stops in Ontario and the Okanagan.
Finally,  all agreed that if they were changing their lives , the destination must include water…a lot of water. As in the Pacific Ocean.
All of which is how Steve, Tricia and Dylan ended up several miles from me at Cobble Hill  in the Cowichan Valley, on Vancouver Island.  They bought a lavender and vineyard property called Denali.
They have turned it into a beautiful vineyard with slopes ,  hollows and 1000’s of new plantings.
Tricia was amazed to discover that no one had taken the name Cobble Hill Wine.

Here is the complete story as told by Dylan, Tricia and Steve from the exciting new   – Cobble Hill Winery.
You’ll want to keep an eye on their releases. They don’t yet make a lot of wine but those days are coming.
Cobble Hill will become a destination as soon as those new wines come out.

They have a newsletter and a great website.
