The Food Sovereign Farmers Market is a student-led event at USF Tampa that promotes food sovereignty by connecting the community with local, sustainable food systems. Hosted biannually at the USF Botanical Gardens, the market features over 20 local vendors, including farms, small businesses, and community organizations, offering items such as local honey, zero-waste products, native plants, and fresh produce. Beyond shopping, the event emphasizes education through collaborations with Homegrown Hillsborough and the TV show Where the Food Comes From, which will host a live trivia game with prizes. The market also aims to expand accessibility by integrating SNAP technologies and building partnerships that strengthen local food resilience.
