Special Episode | The Grim History of the Black Ribbon Day | Talking Diplomacy

Today, August 23 is known as Black Ribbon Day, the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Stalinism and Nazism. On this day, in 1939, German foreign minister J. von Ribbentrop and  Soviet foreign minister V. Molotov signed a bilateral non-aggression pact that included illegal Secret Protocols, thereby paving the way for WWII and division of Central and Eastern Europe. British historian and author Roger Moorhouse shares his insights on the impact and consequences of this sinister Soviet-Nazi pact.

“The Baltic States are particularly grievously affected by the Secret Protocols of the Nazi-Soviet pact, because, of course, that was the instrument by which the Baltic States were incorporated into the Soviet Union in 1939-1940” - explains the historian.
