Join us, Amy and Kim as we go live on Instagram for the first time! We know, we know, people have been doing this for a while now, and we are joining in on the fun! Our first "live" was all about answering your questions about Talk Yoga!
Join us, Amy and Kim as we review how the unique approach of Talk Yoga™ brings communication and movement together to allow children to express, play and learn. We are so grateful to be among the world of yoga for children and appreciate the unique approaches these many programs provide. With Talk Yoga, we are layering our movement with speech and language to teach children how to make specific speech sounds, how to use new vocabulary, how to expand language, and how to express different feelings or sensations that arise in the body when participating in various movements, flows, and breathing practices. Additionally, we are helping young children learn to listen to their bodies, to learn when they need to rest, when they need to feel calm, or when they need more energy.. And don’t forget how Talk Yoga™ is a gift to the teacher, therapist, or parent. These techniques are for you too!
Join us, Amy and Kim as we discuss how to be present using principles of yoga and methods from the practice of Talk Yoga™. As therapists or teachers, we always have a plan, but often our students have a very different plan! Amy and Kim share tips about how to stay present, “read the room” and modify lesson plans to meet the needs of their students. Often, a simple pause followed by a few deep breaths is all you need…followed by a few donkey poses! Enjoy this conversation and just be!
Join us, Amy and Kim as we discuss how Amy has incorporated Tibetan Singing Bowls in her Talk Yoga preschool classes and individual speech and language sessions. Join us, Amy and Kim, as we continue discussing how Talk Yoga can support social and emotional learning. Today we share our thoughts on how yoga helps children build resilience. It is so important to help young children learn how to manage challenges and discomfort. Participating in challenging poses helps us overcome challenges in real life. Introducing children to breathing strategies can help them cope with stressful times. The use of mantras or positive self-talk can build self-esteem and resilience. Lastly, yoga helps us build connections with others, which results in feelings of support and strength, especially during challenging times. We have experienced this in our own lives and love sharing these strategies with our clients and fellow professionals.
Join us, Amy and Kim, as we discuss the benefits of using Talk Yoga™ techniques to support social and emotional learning. Approximately 35% of American children experience stress-related health problems. Using Talk Yoga™ we can help children (and ourselves) with skills such as emotional awareness and regulation which in turn impacts their ability to self-regulate and relate to others. We will share specific ways we address these skills during our sessions and classes. Enjoy!
Join us, Amy and Kim as we share more Talk Yoga™ breathing techniques! As promised, we are back with more ideas for incorporating breathing into your speech and language sessions. Get your pen and paper ready...you will want to take note of these powerful practices to help you and your clients or students get ready to express, play, and learn!
