Christian White: Author of Wild Place.

In this first episode of Talk Wordy To Me, I’m talking wordy with bestselling author Christian White. Christian burst onto the scene in 2017 with his debut novel The Nowhere Child, which became Australia’s bestselling debut novel ever! Crazy huh? He’s also the author of the Wife and The Widow and his most recent book which we’re going to dive into today, Wild Place.

Christian’s accolades don’t stop there though he also co-wrote the hit Netflix mini series Clickbait, which was released by Netflix in August 2021 and went straight to #1 in 41 countries.

We discuss:

  • Starting your writing career in your mid thirties.
  • The crazy jobs one does when pursuing their dreams
  • What it’s like to be involved in a publishing bidding war
  • Why you might like to consider entering writing competitions if you’re an aspiring writer, I know I’m considering it.
  • How to write a good twist.
  • We look at some of the themes in his latest book Wild Place and so much more…

Christians book recommendations:

  • Shadow the Sheep Dog by Enid Blyton
  • Catcher in The Rye by J. D. Salinger
  • The Beach by Alex Garland
  • On Writing by Stephen King
  • Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
  • Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut
  • Seagull by Jonathan Livingstone
  • Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk
  • City on Fire by Don Winslow
  • Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
  • Sputnik’s Sweetheart by Haruki Murakami
