Sustainability is the key - TTPB with Belaa Sanghvi Designs
“As a life-long chronicler of textiles, textile art and handicrafts in India with over fourth decade’s experience, my journey began at my father’s factory that manufactured looms. From a young age, I was introduced to weaving and operating different looms. Slowly, I also provided design inputs in the weaves of different fabrics. With my interaction with the artisans, I realized my two-fold goal – to revive the traditional textiles, and to bring in economic sustainability in the lives of the artisans. Over the years, my work with the artisans has allowed me to generate employment and to give them the freedom to enjoy the craft. I have also imparted several trainings on modern innovations that improve the quality of their workmanship. I have worked on several design projects that aim at business development or business reengineering. Presently, I am working on a book to document my research in various textile techniques in India.”
