Giant sea monsters, skis, and cannons were all notable products of the Early Modern North, as Olaus Magnus showed in his enormous map, the Carta Marina, and in his book, the History of the Northern People. A historian of technology explores how Sweden’s last Catholic bishop documented the innovations involved in daily and industrial life.
